Munster, in the Alsace region of France, is home to the ruins of the ancient Abbey of Saint Gregory, a Benedictine monastery founded in the 7th century. Though much of the abbey was destroyed during the French Revolution, parts of the cloister and Gothic architecture remain and can still be visited today. The town is also famous for its white stork population, which nests on rooftops and church towers across Munster. These graceful birds have become a beloved symbol of the region and are protected through local conservation efforts.
