About :

Þorbjörn, also called Þorbjarnarfell, is a flat-topped tuya volcano located near the town of Grindavík on Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula. It was formed by subglacial volcanic eruptions during the last Ice Age, giving it its unique shape. The mountain rises to about 243 meters and is a popular hiking destination with panoramic views of the Blue Lagoon, lava plains, and the Atlantic Ocean. A dramatic fissure called Þjófagjá (Thieves’ Gap) runs along its side, adding geological and historical interest. Although it hasn’t erupted in modern times, recent uplift and earthquake activity suggest underground magma movement, keeping scientists closely monitoring the area.
