About :

Sýlingarfell, a modest 197 m peak on Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula, sits between the volcanic hills of Hagafell and Stóra‑Skógfell and forms part of the Svartsengi volcanic system. In early 2024 it was the site of several fissure eruptions, where lava flowed northward along its flanks, cutting roads and disrupting local infrastructure. Though eruptions have since subsided, Sýlingarfell remains geologically active and closely monitored by scientists due to ongoing seismic activity and potential for future lava flows .
