Costa de Caparica is a coastal town and seaside resort in the municipality of Almada, Setúbal District, Portugal.

It is situated on the southern margin of the Tagus River estuary, across the river from the city of Lisbon.

Archaeological evidence suggests human presence in the area since prehistoric times.

The name "Caparica" is thought to derive from the ancient Roman town of Capara, located nearby.

In the 15th century, Costa de Caparica became a popular summer retreat for the Portuguese aristocracy.

In the 19th century, it was developed as a seaside resort, attracting tourists from all over Europe.

Today, Costa de Caparica is a major tourist destination, known for its beautiful beaches, surfing, and nightlife.

The population of Costa de Caparica is around 12,000 permanent residents, but it swells to over 100,000 during the summer months.

The main industries in Costa de Caparica are tourism and fishing.

The town is home to several cultural landmarks, including the Church of São João Baptista and the Convent of Nossa Senhora do Cabo.

Costa de Caparica is not home to any UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
