Oshino Hakkai Village is located in Oshino, Yamanashi Prefecture, between Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Yamanaka. It consists of eight spring-fed ponds created by filtered snowmelt from Mount Fuji. The village preserves traditional thatched-roof houses and watermills from the Edo period. Oshino Hakkai is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site as part of the Mount Fuji cultural landscape. Mount Fuji is clearly visible from the village under good weather conditions.
