Kibune River (貴船川) flows through the village of Kibune in northern Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, and is a tributary of the Yodo River system. Near the river, streets such as Kamikurodano Street (上黒田貴船線) run alongside the water and connect local shops, restaurants, and ryokan (traditional inns) in the Kibune area. Kifune-jinja Shrine is a Shinto shrine in this district dedicated to the god of water, open year-round with free admission and known for its red lantern–lined stone steps and forest setting. The shrine complex includes multiple sub-shrines up the hillside and is accessible from the Kibuneguchi station area by bus or on foot.
