China Accuses Philippines of Stoking South China Sea Tensions

China has accused the Philippines of deliberately stoking maritime tensions by conducting large-scale military exercises near the Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea. The drills, which reportedly began on January 21 and are set to end on March 31, have been condemned by Beijing as provocations aimed at encroaching upon the disputed area.

Additionally, Manila has carried out its first joint maritime operation with the United States this year, further escalating regional tensions. This development comes amid internal challenges for China, including the investigation into two senior generals suspected of corruption.
