According to Hwang, the Supreme Court of Panama rendered a judgment annulling CK Hutchison’s port contracts, leaving the company with few options for appeal within Panama’s judicial system. He suggests exploring foreign jurisdictions where Panamanian assets are present to pursue legal actions.

Basil Hwang emphasizes that international courts or neutral forums may offer more promising avenues for CK Hutchison to protect its rights and seek damages. However, this would require the involvement of Beijing, as bringing the case to the International Court of Justice in The Hague would necessitate government intervention.
