Indian-Origin Restaurant Owner Spikes Woman's Drink

A 63-year-old Indian-origin restaurant owner, Vikas Nath, is facing trial in the UK after being caught spiking a woman's drink with a date-rape drug at an exclusive London club.

Nath admitted to adding gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) to her margarita but claims it was meant to 'relax' her, not for sexual purposes. The incident occurred at Annabel's private members' club in Mayfair, where staff swiftly intervened and replaced the spiked drink before she could consume it.

Nath, who owns high-end restaurants including two Michelin-starred ones, claimed he believed GBL was a cleaning fluid and not a drug. However, police found traces of the substance and additional bottles in his home. Nath admitted using a camera to secretly record sexual activity in his London home and sent messages indicating his intentions towards the woman.
