Chinese startup AutoFlight unveiled a large electric flying car, targeting global markets after successful tests. The Matrix model aims to set industry standard
Chinese startup AutoFlight, backed by battery giant CATL, recently unveiled the Matrix, a state-of-the-art electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This innovative flying car, featuring a 20-meter wingspan and capable of carrying up to 10 passengers, marks a significant advancement in the industry.
With its two variants for passenger transport and heavy-duty logistics, the Matrix aims to revolutionize urban mobility. AutoFlight is among several Chinese companies leading the charge in the eVTOL sector, including Ehang, Xpeng's Aridge, and Geely's Aerofugia. The company is also actively engaging with government regulations to establish standards for a thriving low-altitude economy.
As part of its global expansion plans, AutoFlight is focused on passenger flights after initially concentrating on cargo operations. The successful flight demonstration in Kunshan highlights China's rapid progress in this emerging field, setting the stage for widespread adoption and innovation.
