Australia's second-largest telco, Optus, is once again dealing with a technical issue affecting mobile services for hundreds of thousands of its customers. The company has issued guidance suggesting that if users see 'No Service' or 'SOS' on their devices, they should restart their phones to restore connectivity.
Initially, 220,000 customers were impacted, but this number has decreased to 120,000 as the situation is being addressed. Optus is collaborating with partner Ericsson to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. The cause of the outage remains under investigation, though emergency calls to Triple Zero (000) are still functional.
Additionally, there have been notable leadership changes at Optus: chief technology officer Tony Baird will be leaving the company, succeeded by Sri Amirthalingam, who joined Optus last month. This comes after the recent departure of chief information officer Mark Potter, set to leave in March.
