Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet Accuses Thailand of Occupying Cambodian Territory

During a recent interview, Hun Manet, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, revealed that despite multiple ceasefire agreements between Cambodia and Thailand, Thailand continues to occupy significant portions of Cambodian territory. The prime minister stressed the need for border demarcation to restore stability and allow displaced populations to return home. He also noted that the conflict has caused extensive damage to ancient temple sites and displaced hundreds of thousands of people.

Hun Manet called upon Thailand to begin the process of border demarcation through the Joint Boundary Commission, which has been lagging due to recent elections in Thailand. He also mentioned the role of Donald Trump’s Board of Peace in facilitating peace efforts, though it is unclear how directly involved this group has become since its inception.

Cambodia has maintained strong ties with the US despite international criticism of its human rights record. The prime minister emphasized that Cambodia’s relationships with the US and China are not mutually exclusive and that the country is working towards rebuilding its infrastructure and economy post-conflict.
