Passengers on a Singapore-bound cruise ship shared their terrifying ordeal after a fire broke out onboard the vessel. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, February 20, 2026, when crew members knocked urgently on May Lau's cabin door, signaling an immediate threat. The fire was swiftly extinguished by Singapore Civil Defence Force marine firefighters, who arrived to assist in the situation. Tragically, one Indonesian crew member lost their life during the blaze.

All 271 passengers were safely evacuated from the World Legacy cruise ship. Paramedics provided medical assistance to those affected, with four individuals being transported to local hospitals for further evaluation and care. No other injuries among the remaining crew members were reported.
