ASOS Co-Founder Quentin Griffiths Dies in Thailand

Quentin Griffiths, one of the co-founders of British fast-fashion retailer ASOS, has tragically passed away in Thailand. The 58-year-old fell from a balcony on the 17th floor of an apartment building in Pattaya, a seaside resort city known for its large foreign population.

Thai police reported that Griffiths was involved in two ongoing court cases that may have contributed to his stress and emotional distress. His body was found on the ground directly below his residence, and an autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death.

The case initially garnered little attention in Pattaya until British media outlets like The Sun reported it. Griffiths had been living alone in his apartment, which was locked from the inside when he died, according to Thai police and BBC reports. His former Thai wife accused him of stealing £500,000 (approximately $672,000) from a company they operated together, leading to legal proceedings and an arrest last year.

Griffiths co-founded ASOS in 2000 with Nick Robertson, transitioning the brand from 'As Seen On Screen' to its current name in 2003. Despite leaving the company, he remained a significant shareholder. ASOS now boasts over 17 million active customers across 150 markets globally.

His untimely death has raised questions about the pressures faced by founding figures in high-stress industries like fashion retail. The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges and tolls that can accompany success and leadership.
