Bangladesh's foreign secretary, Md Jashim Uddin, is expected to be replaced due to disagreements with Muhammad Yunus regarding Rohingya refugee policy.
Bangladesh's interim government is reportedly planning to replace Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin, just eight months after his appointment.
Sources suggest the move stems from disagreements between Uddin and Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain. Uddin reportedly opposed Yunus's initiative for a "humanitarian corridor" and "safe zone" for Rohingya refugees, a plan supported by the UN and Yunus's NSA Khalilur Rahman.
Uddin's stance aligned with military officials who fear the corridor could jeopardize Bangladesh's sovereignty. Sources indicate Yunus and Rahman actively pushed for Uddin's removal.
Furthermore, Uddin led Bangladesh's delegation in talks with Pakistan on April 17, raising a $4.32 billion financial claim related to assets from pre-1971 undivided Pakistan.
