Russia Targets Kyiv with Drones and Missiles; Injuries Reported
On Saturday, a barrage of drones and missiles struck Kyiv, Ukraine, resulting in injuries to at least eight people, according to city officials.
Details of the Attack
Eyewitness accounts described thick smoke billowing from residential buildings and flames erupting in the Solomianskyi district. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to combat the blazes.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv's military administration, reported that intercepted projectiles landed in four districts of the capital. He confirmed that medical attention was required for six individuals and noted that two fires broke out in the Solomianskyi district. Debris also struck a shopping center and a residential building in Obolon.
Escalation of Conflict
This attack follows a series of approximately 800 Ukrainian drone strikes on targets within Russia, including the capital, Moscow.
Russian Response
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned the Ukrainian attacks and vowed a response. He attributed the increased drone strikes to support from European Union countries and asserted that European leaders would be held accountable. Lavrov also claimed these attacks were an attempt to disrupt peace negotiations.
