Yemen Missile Intercepted Over Jerusalem
Air raid sirens sounded in Jerusalem on Sunday as the Israeli military intercepted a missile launched from Yemen. The interception occurred shortly after the sirens sounded, according to reports.
The Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel's rescue service, reported no injuries related to the launch.
Houthi Rebels Claim Responsibility
Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed the attack, stating the intended target was Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv.
This incident follows a similar event on Thursday, where the Israeli military shot down two missiles also launched from Yemen. In that instance, the MDA reported at least one injury while seeking shelter.
Background on Houthi Attacks
The Houthis have repeatedly launched missiles and drones at Israel since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023, declaring their actions as solidarity with Palestinians.
After a pause during a ceasefire that concluded in March, the attacks resumed following renewed Israeli operations in Gaza. The Houthis recently threatened a naval blockade of the Israeli port of Haifa in response to intensified Israeli military action in Gaza.
