British comedian and actor Russell Brand appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London on February 24, 2026, to face new charges of rape and sexual assault. He has pleaded not guilty to these allegations involving two women from nearly two decades ago.
Brand was previously charged with five counts of sexual misconduct involving four women between 1999 and 2005, including two rapes, one indecent assault, and two sexual assaults. He has already pleaded not guilty to these charges and is set to face trial in June.
The new charges stem from incidents reported in 2009 and were announced by the Metropolitan Police last December. Brand’s lawyer has requested additional time to prepare for these new allegations, which may be joined to his upcoming trial.
Brand, aged 50, remains on bail while the case continues. His legal team is working to address the new evidence and prepare for the trial, which is scheduled for June.
