Israeli Strikes Kill 24 in Gaza, Including Displaced at School
Israeli airstrikes across Gaza have resulted in the deaths of at least 24 Palestinians, according to reports from medics and officials. One strike targeted the Fahmi Al-Jargawi School in Gaza City sheltering displaced families from Beit Lahia, which is currently under heavy Israeli assault.
Details of the Attacks
A spokesman for Gaza's Civil Defence agency stated that 20 bodies, including children, were recovered from the school after a fire engulfed classrooms used as living quarters. Witnesses described horrific scenes of charred bodies.
Another strike hit a home in central Gaza City, killing four more people, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
Escalating Conflict and Humanitarian Concerns
These incidents are part of an escalating offensive in northern Gaza. Previously, an Israeli strike killed nine children of a Palestinian doctor, while the Red Cross reported the deaths of two staff members in Khan Younis. The ICRC reiterated calls for a ceasefire, highlighting the "intolerable civilian death toll."
Concerns over aid delivery continue as a US and Israeli-approved organization faced scrutiny. Despite limited aid entering Gaza, the UN stresses the need for significantly more supplies.
International Response
International efforts to end the war continue, with Spain calling for an arms embargo if Israel does not cease its attacks. The conflict began following Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
