The incident took place at Gaomi Youdao Chemical Co., a facility that manufactures pesticides and medical-use chemicals. The plant is situated within an industrial park in Weifang.
More than 230 firefighters were deployed to the site to tackle the situation. As of now, authorities have not confirmed any casualties.
The explosion's force was considerable, with reports indicating that windows were shattered at a storage facility over two miles (three kilometres) from the plant. A local resident reported that the blast shook their home and they observed a significant smoke plume.
