The Chairman of China's Second-Largest Liquor Producer is Under Investigation

Zeng Congqin, the 57-year-old chairman and party secretary of Wuliangye Yibin, is facing suspicion of serious violations of party discipline and laws. The Sichuan Discipline Inspection Commission announced his investigation on Saturday night, leading to his removal from the company's leadership list. Despite the probe, Wuliangye Yibin claims it will not significantly impact their normal operations.

Zeng started his career in local government roles before joining the company in 2019 as deputy party secretary and rising through the ranks. His last public appearance was at a group-level meeting where he emphasized principles like safe production, anti-corruption integrity, and risk prevention.
