As tensions in the Middle East escalate, Hong Kong society is closely monitoring the safety of its residents stranded in the region. With flight cancellations and regional conflicts, many have been forced to seek refuge in local hotels. The Immigration Department of Hong Kong has confirmed that all residents who reached out for assistance are currently safe.
The department has been coordinating with various embassies, including those in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Jordan, to understand the latest situation and provide appropriate advice and assistance. Among those affected is Martin Yeung Wan-fung, a solicitor stranded in Dubai after his flight was canceled. He described the harrowing experience of witnessing missile attacks firsthand, something he had never encountered before in Hong Kong.
