Turkish journalists detained for filming near a NATO base hosting US troops; TGS demands their release amid regional tensions.
The detention of three Turkish journalists has drawn widespread condemnation from the media community. The journalists were filming near the Incirlik airbase in southern Turkey, which hosts US troops and is a key NATO facility.
The footage was produced by Koza TV for Anka news agency
The Turkish Journalists’ Union (TGS) has strongly condemned the arrests, calling them 'unacceptable'. They are demanding the immediate release of the journalists, who were detained while covering a sensitive topic during regional tensions.
The incident coincided with Israeli and US strikes against Iran, which led to retaliatory missile barrages targeting Gulf states hosting US bases
The base is located approximately 10 kilometers from the city of Adana in southern Turkey.
