Amazon's UAE Data Centers Hit by Drone Strikes

Amazon announced that two of its data centers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were struck by drone attacks. This incident has led to significant service disruptions across various platforms and banking services.

The affected platforms include delivery and taxi service Careem, payments companies Alaan and Hubpay, enterprise software provider Snowflake, as well as banking providers ADCB and Emirates NBD. AWS reported that the strikes caused structural damage and power issues, requiring fire suppression activities and water damage control.

These disruptions are part of a broader regional situation following recent military conflicts involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran. The incidents have targeted critical infrastructure, including data centers and oil production facilities, across the region.

AWS has stated that recovery efforts are ongoing and continue to make progress. Customers are advised to consider migrating workloads to alternative AWS Regions while the issues persist.
