Police and stewards worked to control clashes on the pitch following the Scottish League Cup quarterfinal between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox in Glasgow. Celtic won 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw, with away fans celebrating on the pitch leading to clashes. The Old Firm derby, known for intense rivalries, saw fighting break out when visiting Celtic supporters invaded the pitch. Police formed a barrier across the pitch after hundreds of Rangers fans attempted to attack their rivals.

Celtic boss Martin O’Neill expressed disappointment over the fracas, while Rangers boss Danny Rohl called it unfortunate. The match saw Rangers’ 24 shots and a goal wiped out by VAR. Despite a bitter loss, Rangers had blown a two-goal lead. Celtic fans celebrated their win, but the incident overshadowed the game. An investigation is ongoing as per the Judicial Panel Protocol.
