A woman received a £150 fine for feeding a pigeon in Manchester's Piccadilly Gardens, highlighting the strict littering laws.
A woman from Southport shared her shocking experience of being fined £150 for feeding a pigeon in Manchester's Piccadhill Gardens. Sam Elkin, 23, was enjoying a birthday celebration with her partner when she was approached by a council enforcement officer for littering.
Despite the food being quickly eaten by pigeons, she received a hefty fine. She expressed her frustration, stating she didn't realize feeding birds was against the law.
Her partner, who uses a wheelchair, added to her vulnerability during the encounter. The couple, recently moved to Huddershire on a tight budget, felt the fine was unjust, especially for such a minor offense. They questioned the appropriateness of the fine and its enforcement.
