Hyundai and Kia are seeking alternative suppliers for engine valves after a fire at Anjeon Industry causes significant disruptions.
Firefighters in Daejeon, South Korea, tackled a massive fire at the Anjeon Industry building, which resulted in 14 deaths and 60 injuries. The incident forced Hyundai Motor and Kia to consider alternative suppliers for engine valves due to potential supply disruptions. Anjeon Industry, located approximately 140 kilometers south of Seoul, produced over 70 million engine valves annually, primarily supplying Hyundai and Kia. This situation underscores the importance of having diversified supply chains in critical manufacturing processes to mitigate such risks.
