Bangladesh's Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council criticizes government inaction after attacks on minority families in Jashore. No arrests have been made.
A leading minority group in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, has voiced strong disapproval of the government's slow response to recent attacks on minority families in Dohor Moshiahati, Jashore.
The council highlighted that despite a formal complaint being lodged, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident that occurred five days prior.
According to the council's statement, the violence erupted shortly after the murder of Tariqul Islam, a local leader. Allegedly, attackers targeted the homes of 20 minority families, looting, vandalizing, and setting fire to properties, while also physically assaulting residents.
The council delegation visited the affected area and urged authorities to promptly arrest the perpetrators, ensure justice, and provide compensation to the victims. They also emphasized the need to replace vital documents lost in the attacks, expressing deep concern over the lack of progress in the case concerning the attacks on minority homes.
