Russian drone strikes killed five in Pryluky, including a child, and injured 17 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Residential areas were targeted in both cities.
In a series of overnight attacks, Russian drones targeted the Ukrainian cities of Pryluky and Kharkiv, causing significant casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.
According to regional governor Viacheslav Chaus, the drone strike on Pryluky resulted in the deaths of five people, including a one-year-old child, and injured six others. The attack caused severe damage to residential buildings. The wounded are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Shortly after the Pryluky attack, Kharkiv was also targeted by Russian drones. Regional governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that at least 17 people were wounded, including children, a pregnant woman, and a 93-year-old woman. The drones struck two apartment buildings in the Slobidskyi district, igniting fires and causing widespread destruction.
“By launching attacks while people sleep in their homes, the enemy once again confirms its tactic of insidious terror,” Syniehubov stated on Telegram.
The attacks come after Russian president Vladimir Putin reportedly warned US president Trump of retaliation for Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian military targets. Russia's military has also accused Ukraine of damaging aircraft in overnight drone strikes on its territory.
Recently, Ukrainian and Russian delegations met in Istanbul for peace talks; however, Russia declined to agree to an unconditional ceasefire.
