Speaker Johnson says Republicans will pass Trump's tax bill despite Elon Musk's criticism, downplaying Musk's influence and emphasizing the bill's aims.
Speaker Mike Johnson has confidently stated that Republicans intend to pass President Trump's tax bill, regardless of criticism from Elon Musk.
Despite Musk's description of the bill as an "abomination" and his call for voters to reject it, Johnson minimized Musk's sway over the GOP-controlled Congress. He emphasized that the legislation is designed to benefit hardworking Americans.
"What we're trying to do is help hardworking Americans who are trying to provide for their families and make ends meet," Johnson stated.
Johnson also noted that there has been little public opposition to the bill, suggesting that constituents are taking a "wait and see" approach.
The bill is currently awaiting approval in the Senate after successfully passing through the House.
Johnson dismissed Musk's threat to financially support opponents of the bill, even if they are Democrats.
