Undersheriff Andrew Walsh stated that the victims and Ruiz were acquainted and had a history of conflict on various social media platforms. The shooting took place around 10:40 pm on Las Vegas Boulevard. Officers patrolling the area responded to the sound of gunshots and discovered the victims on the sidewalk. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Video footage circulating online shows the chaos as the shooting unfolded. Police have characterized the event as an isolated incident and not a random act of violence, emphasizing that the suspect and victims knew each other. As of Monday morning, it was unclear whether Ruiz had legal representation.
