A major fire broke out in the parking garage of Nashville's main public library on Tuesday morning, causing significant disruption and concern among residents.
Residents reported hearing a series of loud explosions around 1:15 am local time. Thick black smoke billowed from the parking structure, creating a dramatic and unsettling scene in downtown Nashville. Social media was quickly flooded with videos and images of the unfolding event.
Fortunately, as of the latest reports, no casualties have been reported. The Nashville Fire Department responded swiftly to the scene and worked to contain the blaze. The parking garage is known to be used by visitors to nearby bars late at night.
Eli Gilmore, a musician residing in a neighboring apartment building, recounted hearing loud explosions and witnessing cars exploding one after another. "We were sitting around and I just looked over and saw black smoke coming out of the garage, and then we started hearing cars exploding, one after another. We saw a floor crack and fall in. Sparks were shooting across the street," Gilmore stated.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Authorities are working to determine the source of the blaze and assess the full extent of the damage to the parking structure.
