The ancestral home of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, located in Bangladesh's Sirajganj district, has been vandalized by a mob, prompting an official investigation.

Incident Details

The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over motorcycle parking fees at the Rabindra Memorial Museum (Kachharibari). The altercation between a visitor and an employee led to protests and, ultimately, the vandalism of the Kachharibari's auditorium.

Investigation and Response

Authorities have formed a three-member committee to investigate the attack. Md Habibur Rahman, Custodian of the Kacharibari, announced the temporary suspension of visitor access due to "unavoidable circumstances." The investigative committee is expected to submit its report within five working days.

Historical Significance

The Kachharibari, situated in Shahzadpur, Rajshahi division, holds significant historical importance as the Tagore family's ancestral home and revenue office. It was here that Rabindranath Tagore created many of his renowned literary works.
