Israeli fire killed 23 Palestinians in Gaza, many near an aid site. The Gaza health ministry reports hundreds killed near aid distributions recently.

Israeli Fire Kills 23 in Gaza Amid Aid Distribution

According to local health officials, Israeli military actions have led to the deaths of at least 23 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip. A significant number of these deaths occurred near an aid distribution site operated by the U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).

Details of the Incidents

Medics reported that at least 15 people were killed while attempting to access the GHF site near the Netzarim corridor. The remaining deaths resulted from separate attacks throughout the region. As of now, neither the Israeli military nor the GHF has issued a statement regarding the incidents.

Humanitarian Crisis Intensifies

The Gaza health ministry reports a grim toll: at least 274 people killed and over 2,000 wounded near aid distribution sites since the GHF began operations in May. The United Nations has expressed concerns about the impartiality and neutrality of the GHF's aid distribution model.

Evacuation Orders Issued

Further escalating the situation, the Israeli military has ordered residents of Khan Younis, Abassan, and Bani Suhaila to evacuate to a designated "humanitarian zone," citing plans to combat "terror organizations" in the area.

Background of the Conflict

The conflict in Gaza began 20 months ago, triggered by a Hamas-led raid on Israel on October 7, 2023, resulting in 1,200 Israeli deaths and the taking of 251 hostages. The subsequent Israeli military campaign has reportedly killed nearly 55,000 Palestinians, displaced the majority of the population, and led to widespread malnutrition.
