Melania Trump Statues in Slovenia: Bronze Sculpture Stolen, Wooden One Burned
The saga of Melania Trump's statues in Slovenia continues with a twist. A bronze statue of the former First Lady, erected near her hometown of Sevnica, has been stolen, cut off at the ankles. This brazen act follows a similar incident in 2020 when a wooden statue of Trump was burned to the ground.
The Bronze Statue's Fate
The bronze statue, unveiled in 2020, proved more resilient than its wooden predecessor but ultimately succumbed to theft. Police spokeswoman Alenka Drenik Rangus confirmed the investigation, launched after the statue's disappearance on Tuesday.
Artist's Reaction
American artist Brad Downey, who conceptualized the statue with local artist Aleš Župevc, expressed sadness over the statue's removal. He speculated a possible connection to Donald Trump's recent election prospects. Župevc crafted the original wooden statue using a chainsaw on a linden tree.
Trump's Absence
Notably, neither Melania nor Donald Trump is known to have visited the statues. A separate, controversial two-faced statue of Donald Trump in Slovenia, depicting him as both amiable and vampiric, also met its fiery end, adding to the bizarre narrative.
