An Indian mountaineer, Shaikh Hasan Khan from Kerala, is reportedly stranded with his team on Denali Mountain in North America. He sent an SOS message via satellite phone, seeking urgent rescue after encountering severe difficulties during his expedition.

Details of the Situation

Khan's SOS message indicated that he and his team are stuck in a severe storm at 17,000 feet on Camp 5 of Mount Denali, the highest peak in North America. He mentioned having limited food and water supplies to survive.

"Hi this is shaikh. I am on an expedition to mount Denali, the highest peak of north America. We are stuck in a severe storm at 17,000 ft at camp 5," his message read.

Calls for Assistance

BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar notified External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar about the situation and requested assistance. Pathanamthitta MP Anto Antony also wrote to Jaishankar seeking urgent help for Khan.

Antony stated that Khan was on a mission to hoist a flag to congratulate the Indian Army for Operation Sindoor when he became trapped due to the storm.

Background

Khan, an avid mountaineer and assistant section officer in Kerala's finance department, has previously scaled several peaks around the world, including Mount Everest in 2022.
