A disruptive incident occurred on a Southwest Airlines flight at New York's LaGuardia Airport, resulting in the arrest of a 32-year-old woman.
Leanna Perry, identified as a New York resident, is now facing aggravated assault charges following her unruly behavior, which began around 1 am on Tuesday. The Port Authority Police Department (PAPD) confirmed the arrest.
According to reports and video footage, Perry was intoxicated and allegedly assaulted another passenger by grabbing her hair while using offensive language. Airline staff and fellow passengers struggled to restrain Perry, who continued to verbally abuse those around her.
Even after being restrained with zip ties, Perry continued her tirade, making inappropriate comments and eventually claiming she couldn't breathe.
Following her removal from the flight, Perry received medical attention before being transferred to the New York City Department of Corrections.
Southwest Airlines has stated that the passenger was denied boarding and commended their team for their professionalism in handling the situation.
