Vance Boelter claims Governor Walz ordered him to kill Senator Klobuchar in a letter to the FBI. The letter included other politicians as targets.
Vance Boelter, the accused in the Minnesota political assassinations, penned a letter to the FBI claiming Governor Tim Walz directed him to kill Senator Amy Klobuchar.
The letter, reported by the Minnesota Star Tribune as one and a half pages long, is said to be mostly incoherent. Boelter also alleged being trained by the US military and implicated other politicians on a hit list.
A spokesperson for the Hennepin County Attorney’s office stated they have seen no evidence to support Boelter’s allegations against Governor Walz. Walz's spokesperson expressed gratitude to law enforcement and prosecutors.
The allegations follow the death of Minnesota House rep Melissa Hortman and her husband, allegedly at the hands of Boelter, as well as an attack on State Senator John Hoffman and his wife.
Klobuchar stated, "Boelter is a very dangerous man and I am deeply grateful that law enforcement got him behind bars before he killed other people."
