Israel reports killing Iranian commander Saeed Izadi, allegedly linked to the Hamas attack. Tensions escalate as both nations trade attacks. Casualties rise.
In a significant escalation, Israel reports eliminating Saeed Izadi, a senior Iranian commander said to have masterminded the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that Saeed Izadi, a high-ranking commander in Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in a precise strike in Qom, Iran. IDF Chief Eyal Zamir hailed the operation as a major intelligence and operational achievement.
"The blood of thousands of Israelis is on his hands," Zamir stated, holding Izadi responsible for the devastating attack that resulted in numerous casualties and hostages.
Iran has not yet confirmed Izadi's death and continues to deny any involvement in the Hamas attack.
The IDF also claimed responsibility for killing another Quds Force commander, Behnam Shahriyari, in a drone strike. Shahriyari was allegedly responsible for supplying missiles and rockets to Hamas and Hezbollah.
These assassinations mark a critical juncture in the ongoing conflict. Amid this, reports indicate that Israel targeted a nuclear facility near Isfahan, while Iran targeted military infrastructure within Israel.
As the conflict escalates, Iran's Foreign Minister has cautioned against any US intervention. The Human Rights Activists News Agency reports a significant death toll since June 13, while Israel has also suffered casualties.
