Kyiv Under Attack: Seven Dead as Russia Intensifies Airstrikes

A devastating Russian air attack on Kyiv has resulted in the deaths of at least seven people and left several others injured. The overnight assault, involving missiles and drones, targeted residential areas, hospitals, and sports facilities in the Kyiv region, according to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that six of the fatalities occurred in a high-rise building in the capital, with 22 others wounded.

Zelensky to Meet with UK PM

President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to meet with UK PM Keir Starmer in London to discuss increased military support for Ukraine. The recent barrage saw 352 Russian drones and 16 missiles aimed at Ukrainian territory, with the Kyiv area being the primary target, according to the Ukrainian air force. Russia has escalated its aerial attacks on Ukrainian cities, employing tactics designed to overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses.

Thousands Seek Shelter

Thousands of Kyiv residents sought shelter in the early hours of the morning as drones flew overhead and impacts shook the city. Ukraine's emergencies service released footage of residents being evacuated from a destroyed high-rise building. One additional death was reported in Bila Tserkva, south of Kyiv, after a drone struck a hospital.

Ukraine Vows to Step Up Strikes

Ukrainian commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrsky has vowed to intensify Ukrainian strikes on Russia. The capital is still recovering from attacks earlier in the week that killed 28 and injured over 100. The canceled meeting between Zelensky and Trump and Zelensky's planned attendance at a NATO summit dinner were also mentioned.
