Trump Claims He Saved Iran's Khamenei; Tensions Escalate

Trump claims he saved Khamenei from death. Tensions rise as Iran claims victory, and Israel hints at independent action. US threatens retaliation.

Trump Claims Intervention Saved Khamenei from 'Ugly Death'

Former President Donald Trump has once again asserted that his intervention prevented a dire fate for Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to Trump, without his actions, Khamenei would have faced an "ugly and ignominious death".

Iran and Israel Respond

Trump's statement comes amid heightened tensions. Iran is claiming victory, while Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has implied that Israel could have targeted Khamenei without US approval. Katz added that Khamenei went into hiding and cut off communications with his commanders, and Israel doesn't need approval from the US to strike Khamenei.

Trump's Account of Events

Trump claims he knew "exactly" where Khamenei was sheltered and intervened to prevent a major Israeli attack on Tehran. He posted on Truth Social that he demanded Israel bring back a very large group of planes which were heading directly to Tehran.

Trump also criticized Iran's leadership, lamenting their "burned out, blown up Country, with no future... horrible Economy, and DEATH all around them."

US Response to Uranium Enrichment

Trump also stated at a press conference that the US would bomb Iran again if there is any further intel about Iran restarting its uranium programs.

Khamenei's Rebuttal

In his first remarks since the US strikes, Khamenei dismissed the US strikes as ineffective and credited Iran with attacking a US airbase in Qatar.
