A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck the southern Philippines. It is the second quake this week. No major damage or casualties were immediately reported.
A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 struck off the southern coast of the Philippines on Saturday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake's epicenter was located approximately 70 kilometers from Davao Occidental province, at a depth of 101 kilometers.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage. Marlawin Fuentes, a rescuer from Sarangani island, reported feeling the shake for about five seconds.
This is the second earthquake to hit the Philippines this week. On Tuesday, a 6.2 magnitude quake struck the northern part of the country.
The Philippines experiences frequent seismic activity due to its location along the Pacific "Ring of Fire." Stronger earthquakes can strike without warning, and predicting them remains a challenge.
