Five arrested in Bangladesh for raping a Hindu woman and circulating the video. India urges Bangladesh to protect its minorities.
Police in Bangladesh have arrested five individuals in connection with the rape of a Hindu woman and the circulation of a disturbing video on social media. The incident occurred in Ramchadrapur Panchkitta village, Comilla district.
According to reports, Fajr Ali, 36, was allegedly caught raping the wife of an expatriate by local residents. He managed to escape initially, but not before some individuals recorded the victim's ordeal.
The video, showing the victim naked and pleading, was then spread on social media. A case has been registered, and authorities have arrested Fajr Ali and four others involved in recording and circulating the footage.
This incident comes amid growing concerns about violence against religious minorities and women in Bangladesh. Protests have been held in Dhaka condemning such acts.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs has urged the interim Bangladeshi government to ensure the safety of Hindus and other minorities in light of these events.
