A Massachusetts police officer was shot in an "armed confrontation" when officers tried serving her with a restraining order requested by her fiancé.
The fiancé, a North Andover firefighter, sought the order, fearing the officer's mental health and potential danger to their infant son. He expressed concerns about her postpartum depression.
Court documents show the fiancé worried the officer might harm their 4-month-old child. He cited disturbing behavior, including threats to take the baby and self-harm during pregnancy.
The officer was previously hospitalized for postpartum depression and had her firearms temporarily suspended. She was receiving treatment and therapy.
During the attempt to serve the restraining order, an "armed confrontation" occurred. The officer was shot in the chest and is currently in stable condition at a Boston hospital.
