Iran is open to talks with the US but will continue uranium enrichment after recent strikes. No further retaliation unless provoked, says official.
Despite recent tensions and US strikes on its nuclear program, Iran signals a willingness to engage in talks with Washington, according to a senior government official.
Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi clarified that while Iran remains open to diplomacy, it will not halt its uranium enrichment activities. Takht-Ravanchi stated that Iran would not retaliate further unless faced with new aggression from the United States.
He also expressed disappointment over the missile exchanges that occurred during previous talks with the Trump administration regarding Iran's nuclear program.
The deputy minister emphasized that Iran requires assurance that the US will refrain from using military force during negotiations.
While Iran insists its nuclear program is peaceful, it is ready to discuss the scope and capacity of its enrichment program with other countries, adhering to the 1970 nuclear non-proliferation treaty (NPT).
