Croatian singer's concert draws criticism over pro-Nazi salute. In Turkiye, a lion escaped from a zoo and injured a man before being shot dead.
A concert by Croatian right-wing singer Marko Perkovic, known as Thompson, has sparked outrage after he and many concertgoers allegedly performed a pro-Nazi salute. The incident occurred in Zagreb, Croatia.
The salute accompanied the performance of a song containing the phrase "For the homeland - Ready!", a phrase associated with the Ustasha regime during WWII. Perkovic claims the song relates to the 1991-95 war, and courts have allowed its use.
Separately, in Turkiye, a 53-year-old man was seriously injured after a lion escaped from the Land of Lions zoo in Manavgat. The man, Suleyman Kir, was attacked while sleeping outdoors. The escaped lion was subsequently killed.
