Ex-Hostage Urges Trump to Secure Gaza Hostage Release

Keith Siegel, an American-Israeli and former hostage held captive by Hamas, believes former US President Donald Trump has the power to secure the release of the remaining hostages in Gaza and end the ongoing conflict.

Siegel's Plea to Trump

Siegel, 66, who was kidnapped from Kibbutz Kfar Aza during the Hamas-led attacks on Israel on October 7th, was freed in February after 484 days in captivity. His release came under a ceasefire deal partly brokered by Trump. Speaking from Tel Aviv ahead of a meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Trump, Siegel expressed his gratitude to Trump and urged him to leverage his influence.

The Situation in Gaza

Siegel estimates that approximately 50 hostages remain, with up to 20 believed to be alive. He detailed the harsh conditions of his captivity, including being moved through Gaza and witnessing the torture of other captives.

Call for Action

While advocating for the hostages' release as the highest priority, he also emphasized the critical need to prevent Hamas from continuing to pose a threat. He stated that the organization bears responsibility for deaths on both sides of the conflict. Addressing the suffering of the Gazan population, Siegel said that everyone deserves peace, security, and freedom.

Negotiations and Obstacles

Trump has expressed optimism for a new ceasefire and hostage deal, but significant obstacles remain between Israel and Hamas.
