Bee Attack in Aurillac, France Leaves 24 Injured
On Sunday morning, the town of Aurillac, France, experienced an unusual event: a mass bee attack that resulted in 24 injuries. Emergency services quickly responded to the scene.
Details of the Incident
According to local officials, three of the victims were initially in critical condition. Fire service chief Lt Col Michel Cayla described the scene as dramatic due to the high number of casualties and the panic it incited. He noted that he had never witnessed anything similar.
The attack lasted approximately 30 minutes, with people in the area being stung repeatedly. Firefighters, medical teams, and police worked together to secure the area and provide assistance.
Possible Cause and Hive Relocation
Aurillac’s mayor, Pierre Mathonier, suggested that the bees may have become aggressive due to Asian hornets attempting to attack their hive. The hive, which had been located on the roof of a hotel in the town center for more than 10 years, has since been relocated outside of Aurillac by a beekeeper.
Update on the Injured
Mayor Mathonier confirmed that all three individuals who were initially in critical condition are now in better condition. One of them, a 78-year-old, had suffered cardiac arrest and had to be revived, but is now stable.
