An Australian surfer was rescued after spending the night on an uninhabited island near Wooli, NSW, after going missing. He is receiving medical care.
A teenage Australian surfer, identified as Darcy Deefholts, has been rescued after a night spent on North Solitary Island, an uninhabited island off the coast of Wooli, New South Wales.
The 19-year-old went surfing off Wooli Beach on Wednesday afternoon. When he failed to return home, his family alerted the New South Wales police.
Police initiated a search and rescue operation, and Deefholts was found safe on North Solitary Island, approximately 12 kilometers offshore. His father described the rescue as a 'one in a million miracle'.
The rescued surfer is currently receiving medical treatment.
