Ex-police IG in Bangladesh pardoned after agreeing to testify against Sheikh Hasina in a "crimes against humanity" case. He confessed to the crimes.
Former police Inspector General Chowdhury Abdullah al-Mamun, previously tried with ex-PM Sheikh Hasina in "crimes against humanity" cases, has been pardoned after becoming a state witness.
Mamun confessed to the alleged crimes and agreed to disclose the truth to the Bangladesh International Crimes Tribunal (ICT). Former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal is also an accused. Hasina and Kamal are being tried in absentia for alleged atrocities.
The tribunal stated that Mamun's pardon is contingent upon full and truthful disclosure of all details related to the alleged crimes. This is a developing story.
